Brian Crew was awarded “Best in Center” at Iowa’s 2011 Solo and Ensemble competition for both the solo and ensemble category. Brian performed Arthur Pryor’s Blue Bells of Scotland and Charles Small’s Conversations. He will perform both at the winner’s recital next month.
Justin Gingerich has accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Iowa.
Brian Crew has accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Northern Iowa to study with Dr. Chris Buckholz.
The Iowa City Press Citizen ran a story about the four Iowa City West High School students selected for the All-State Jazz Band. Trombonist Blake Manternach has a great quote:

Blake Manternach, of Iowa City West High School, was named an outstanding soloist in the 4A category at the SEIBA (South Eastern Iowa Band Association) Jazz Festival.

Brian Crew of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids has won a cash scholarship from the Cedar Rapids Beethoven Society for his performance of Camille Saint Saëns’ Cavatine for trombone and piano (Lee Nguyen, piano).
