Student Success – Brian Crew

Brian Crew was awarded “Best in Center” at Iowa’s 2011 Solo and Ensemble competition for both the solo and ensemble category. Brian performed Arthur Pryor’s Blue Bells of Scotland and Charles Small’s Conversations. He will perform both at the winner’s recital next month.

Brian Crew, of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, was recently selected as “Best Soloist” for both the TallCorn and NEIBA (North East Iowa Bandmasters Association) Jazz Festivals. Congratulations to Brian for all of his hard work!

Blake Manternach, of Iowa City West High School, was named an outstanding soloist in the 4A category at the SEIBA (South Eastern Iowa Band Association) Jazz Festival.

Brian Crew of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids has won a cash scholarship from the Cedar Rapids Beethoven Society for his performance of Camille Saint SaĆ«ns’ Cavatine for trombone and piano (Lee Nguyen, piano).
